Why MDCAT 2026 Being /180 Actually Matters
MDCAT switched to a 180-MCQ paper (1 mark each, no negative marking) starting from the PMDC-administered tests. Older PMC-era papers before 2024 used 200 marks. If a calculator divides your score by 200 when your paper was actually out of 180, every single percentage point comes out wrong โ and on a formula where MDCAT carries 50% weight, that error gets doubled in your final aggregate. This calculator defaults to /180 but lets you switch to /200 if you're working with an older paper.
Which Formula Actually Applies to You
Not every Pakistani medical college uses the same aggregate formula. Picking the wrong one will give you a number that simply doesn't match what your target college will calculate.
| Route | Formula | Used by |
|---|---|---|
| PMDC / UHS Standard | 10% Matric + 40% FSc + 50% MDCAT | UHS Punjab, DUHS, KMU, most public & private colleges nationwide |
| NUMS | 10% Matric + 40% FSc + 50% NUMS test (/150) | Army Medical College, CMH-affiliated colleges |
| Federal | 50% FSc + 50% MDCAT โ no Matric | SZABMU Federal seats, FMDC Islamabad |

A Note on the Probability Estimates
This calculator labels a college "Likely," "Borderline," or "Unlikely" based on the gap between your aggregate and its most recent closing merit โ not a guaranteed outcome. Closing merits shift every year based on how many students apply and how hard the paper was. A 1-2% gap either way can flip a result, so use this as a planning signal, not a final answer. Always cross-check against the official UHS, NUMS, or SZABMU merit lists once they're published.
